All Songs Live: Wilco

Hear Wilco live from Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club with an opening performance by the Chicago band Detholz. Wilco is on tour to promote its latest CD A Ghost is Born, which recently won two Grammys.

A Multimedia Performance

For this tour, Wilco hired multimedia artist Deborah Johnson to craft more than two hours of film clips, slides and other visuals to project behind the band during each performance.

Opening Act: Detholz

Wilco is joined on this tour by the Chicago band Detholz. Wilco has long supported new and emerging artists from the city. Detholz (pronounced "death holes") play a quirky mix of punk, new wave and experimental rock with doses of what they call "Christian kitsch."

"I had lots of arguments with people about this record. Most of them went like this: Them: It's so noisy. Me: Yes, but there's some poise within that, like on 'Hummingbird' and 'Handshake Drugs.' Them: The guitars sound deranged. Me: When was the last time you heard such dramatic derangement? Them: The songs seem sorta blasted apart. Me: At a time when so many songs seem prefabbed by some software program, is that such a bad thing?"
