The Quest for Sound Team spent a year with your voices...

We built a database full of what you said. We called it Big Mamma. Big Mamma held more than we could ever embrace in one year. In fact, we're still wrapping our arms around it. In the coming months we will pull more stories from what you left us--we all feel the obligation and wish to do so--though we may never be able to do justice to it all.

Each of us who handled your messages and your tapes, discs, wires and cylinders was changed a little by the experience. Here below are some notes from our Quest Team -- Art Silverman, Darcy Bacon, Viki Merrick, and Kate Volkman -- who worked along with other NPR staff, The Kitchen Sisters (Davia Nelson & Nikki Silva) and myself to shepherd your calls.
